Essential monsoon hair care tips

Essential monsoon hair care tips

Posted on September 6, 2019September 6, 2019 by Madhumita

The monsoon tends to make your hair limp, lusterless, heavy and frizzy, owing to high levels of humidity in the air. Monsoon is known to bring alive the greens and drive away from the blues. However, it is also known to cause hair damage with its excessive humidity. But don’t fret; here are monsoon hair care tips that really work.

Ensure your hair is dry

Stepping out with damp hair is disastrous in monsoon. Damp scalp will invite fungal infection and cause smelly scalp due to the rise in humidity in the environment. Always dry your hair after shampooing before you step out.

Head massage with oil

Nothing is as good for your hair during the monsoon as a good old hair oil massage. It boosts healthy blood circulation to your scalp and also nourishes dry hair strands. It helps to rejuvenate your hair from damage due to high humidity in the air.  But make sure you don’t use too much oil else you will be over-shampooing which is not good for your hair.

Condition the right way

Avoid using too much conditioner else your hair will be weighed down. Always use conditioner to the ends of the hair. This helps to reduce frizz that is common during monsoon. Using conditioner all the way to the scalp will make your scalp greasy.

Choose shampoo wisely

Wash your hair twice a week to avoid fungal or bacterial scalp issues due to the humidity in the environment. Use a clarifying shampoo once in 10 days to avoid build-up on the scalp which is common during monsoon. The shampoo that you choose must be cleansing your scalp properly without stripping natural oils from your scalp.

Treat dandruff at the very beginning

Dandruff is common during monsoon and it must be treated at the very beginning. Add 2 drops of tea tree or peppermint essential oil to your shampoo to remove dandruff. Use neem powder mixed with coconut milk as a hair mask once a week to prevent dandruff.

Protect your hair from rain

We all love to get our hair wet in a drizzle, remember that rainwater is acidic, which is not good for our hair. By following this simple tip will protect your hair this monsoon.

By following the above-mentioned monsoon hair care tips, hair remains healthy and it reduces shedding of hair that is common in monsoon.
