Every morning, I groggily face the bathroom mirror and notice the same shades of purple hanging under my eyes. I’ve begun to realize that yes, more sleep is necessary, but moisturizing underneath my eyes are, too. The skin underneath our eyes is the thinnest layer of skin on our bodies (besides hands) making it more prone to show bruising from blood circulation issues and delicate enough to experience the first signs of aging. I’ve explored the all-natural DIY eye cream/ balm options and discovered the simplest solution to repair and rejuvenate the oh-so-delicate area underneath the eyes. This DIY Rosehip and kokum eye cream helps in reducing dark circles.
Dark circles are widely recognized as caused by lack of sleep, but also are a result of allergies, skin pigmentation, genetics, illness, or poor diet or lifestyle choices such as drugs, smoking, or alcohol consumption. Puffiness can also be caused by genetics or allergies, and fluid retention, dehydration, or fluctuating hormones.

WHY THESE INGREDIENTS IN DIY EYE CREAM?
ROSEHIP OIL
Rosehip oil has anti-aging effects. It improves cell longevity and obstructs skin aging. Rosehip oil is rich in carotenoid pigments and is a strong antioxidant, which can inhibit the synthesis of MMP-1, an enzyme responsible for the breakdown of collagen. Thus rosehip oil is an excellent ingredient for anti-aging creams. It reduces the appearance of wrinkles. (source)
An extract derived from rosehip is methanolic and shown to be an inhibitor of melanogenesis; which means that rosehip oil works against skin pigmentation. It reduces dark spots.
KOKUM BUTTER
Kokum Butter is believed to promote skin elasticity, prevent skin dryness, and restore damaged skin. It also is great for cell regeneration which is perfect for the delicate area around the eyes. And that is the reason it is included in this recipe. Kokum butter has skin regenerative property and it also prevents degeneration of skin cells. The combination of moisturizing, skin cell regeneration, and antioxidant properties of kokum butter make it an excellent ingredient to combat the visible signs of aging.
CUCUMBER SEED OIL
VITAMIN E
Vitamin E is a naturally occurring antioxidant, which protects the skin from the adverse effects of oxidative stress including photoaging (source).
FRANKINCENSE ESSENTIAL OIL
Frankincense is one of the best oils for lightening hyperpigmentation, scars, blemishes, and dark circles around the eyes.
