Cystic acne is when you have large, red, painful breakouts deep in your skin. Pimples start when a pore in your skin gets clogged, usually with dead skin cells. Bacteria can also get trapped, causing the area to become red and swollen. Regular acne consists of the smaller pimples, papules, whiteheads, and blackheads that appear and disappear fairly quickly — in a matter of weeks. Cystic acne involves deep, painful lumps under the skin, called nodules or sebaceous cysts.
How to know whether you have Cystic Acne
If you find red, painful, and irritating bumps on your skin, then you have developed cystic acne. It has the following characteristics
- Large white bump
- Large pus-filled cyst
- Redness
- Tender or painful to the touch
1.RUB ICE ON THE ACNE
Remove an ice cube from your ice tray and rub it in circular motions directly on top of the cystic acne spot. Continue the motion until it is too sensitive from the cold.
Simply applying ice to your cystic breakout can also work wonders when it comes to decreasing the swelling, redness, pain, or even itchiness associated with cystic acne.
2.USE A TURMERIC MASK
Turmeric contains curcumin, which is a known anti-inflammatory. It also has high levels of antiseptic properties. When you apply turmeric face mask to cystic acne, there is a potential anti-inflammatory effect that decreases the redness and size of the pimple.
Personally, whenever my skin breakouts with cystic acne, I apply a paste of turmeric and rose water. This humble simple tip has helped me a lot.
3.DON’T PICK YOUR ACNE
I can’t stress enough of this point. Picking acne will only leave acne marks on your skin as you have read all over Internet. So control the temptation to pick the acne so you won’t regret later.
4.WATCH YOUR DIET
Eating excessively sugary foods can trigger acne. Drink a lot of water because it helps your skin self-hydrate. Stay away from processed foods.
I used to have a lot of cystic acne breakouts, just by reducing sugar intake, my skin has cleared a lot.
5.MEDITATE
Acne breakouts have been directly linked to stress, whether it stems from school, work, anything. Therefore, anything you can do to keep calm will help lower the risk of a breakout. I typically suggest meditation.
Meditating for at least 5 minutes every day regularly will be beneficial for your skin and overall mental health.
These 5 tips might look simple & basic but following it consistently will reap desired effect on your skin.
