Hair masks are something that I include in my weekly hair care routine. I use DIY hair mask most of the time since my scalp is sensitive and I don’t wanna irritate my scalp. Since I have dry frizzy hair, I always use moisturizing hair masks in order to maintain the health of my hair. Avo coco hair is my top favourite hair mask.

Things that you will need

  • Fully ripe avocado pulp – 2 cups
  • Coconut milk – 1 cup
  • Castor oil – 2 spoons
  • Rosemary Essential oil – 3 drops

How to make Avo coco hair mask

Take a blender and blend half or 1 full avocado. Now take 2 cups of this avocado pulp in a bowl. (You can adjust the quantity depending upon your hair’s length and density).

How to apply the hair mask

Take some hair mask and apply it all over the hair lengths. Saturate your hair strands with the hair mask. Then apply the hair mask all over your scalp and tie your hair up in a bun. Steam your hair with the help of facial steamer if you have one. Leave it for about 45 minutes and then wash your hair with usual shampoo and conditioner. Tadaa you are done.

Why these ingredients?

Avocado

Avocados prevent hair loss and promoting hair growth. They can also be used to improve the condition of your hair by acting as a moisturizer for dry or damaged hair. Avocados were first used for this purpose by early Egyptians.  It is loaded with potassium (nearly twice as much as bananas), and amino acids, and contains protein, among the highest of all fruit. Its moisturizing properties makes hair shiny and supple and keeps the hair moisturized.

The fatty acids and high levels of antioxidants like vitamin E in avocados are well absorbed into our scalp and hair shafts. This not only has a highly moisturizing and protective effect against environmental stressors and damage, it may also stimulate new growth and help unclog blocked follicles. Avocados work at the cellular level to protect and strengthen hair. Vitamin E helps repair damage on the scalp, which may slow or prevent hair growing. Vitamin B present in it is essential for hair growth. Avocado locks moisture into hair cells, nourishes hair cells, and strengthens hair roots, shaft, and strands.

Coconut milk

Because of its excellent moisturising properties, coconut milk can be used as a scalp tonic for dry, itchy and irritated scalp. Coconut milk contains all the essential nutrients required for healthy hair, boosting your hair follicles and promoting hair growth. It moisturizes dry and frizzy hair. It adds luster to the hair strands. It boosts hair growth.

Castor oil

Castor oil  has the ability to trigger and stimulate hair growth from dormant follicles.  Castor oil has the ricinoleic acid which accelerates blood circulation to the scalp, hence increasing hair growth. It works on nourishing the scalp and strengthening the roots. It also has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties making castor oil for hair your secret weapon to treat your damaged hair.

Rosemary essential oil

It is the best oil for hair growth and hair thinning problem. Rosemary oil is known to increase the growth of new hair by 20%. It is one of the premier hair growth enhancing essential oils. Rosemary oil is packed with antioxidants which help scavenge free radicals – that are responsible for greying as well as hair thinning.
